CAPS programs do not have pre-requisites, as long as, students are on track for graduation.
This course is designed for students who have an interest in the Information Technology field. The course will allow students an opportunity to discover and explore a variety of career options in the technology space.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
The job outlook for a career in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. These occupations are projected to add about 557,100 new jobs. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security. The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $84,580 in May 2017. Examples of employment are: Web developers, computer security specialists, software developers, computer technicians, database analysts, etc.
Dual Credit Opportunities:
Students have the opportunity to earn college credit by dual enrollment through Northwest Missouri State University. (Tuition cost is determined by the University). Courses include Foundations of Computing (3 credits), Profession Based Essentials (1 credit) and Profession-Based Work Experience (1-3 credits).
